Ugly Duckling is a small gourmet sandwich shop with an open kitchen and a tight menu of about three sandwiches made from scratch, including a much-praised porchetta with crispy pork skin, rosemary mayo and pickled lemon. The draw is the homemade bread (a brioche / Japanese milk-bread hybrid) and high-quality Norwegian and Italian ingredients, with reviewers saying the quality rivals proper sit-down restaurants. It's mostly takeaway with limited seating, so arriving early is advised; some note long waits, small portions and high prices.
