About Spis

Spis is one home for your whole food life. The dinners you cook, the weeks you plan, the lists you shop from, and the places you go when someone else is cooking.

In

Your kitchen

Save recipes from anywhere, or create them with AI from a link, a photo, or whatever's left in the fridge. Plan the week together with your household, shop from a list that writes itself, and let cook mode walk you through the cooking one step at a time.

Out

Places to try

A living map of real places to eat: the city's big names and the corner spot no guide ever bothered with. Browsing is open to everyone, account or not.

Spis is two things in one app. Your kitchen: the recipes, the week's plan, the shopping list. And the map: new places to eat, in your own neighbourhood or wherever you're travelling.

A proper map for finding places to eat

Every place on Spis is looked up individually, never bulk-imported by the region. The ones worth talking about carry a written Spis take: honest and specific, caveats included, like a friend who knows the city. And nobody can buy a better ranking, because nothing is for sale.

We're honest about where we stand, too. The takes run deepest in the Nordics today and grow city by city. Where we haven't written one yet, the map still shows what's genuinely around you, and says so plainly instead of pretending.

You make it sharper

Been somewhere? Say so. A review, a photo of the dish or the menu, a heads-up that a place has closed for good. Every accepted contribution earns points and saves the next hungry person a bad guess.

+5 a review+10 a photo+15 a closed-place report

Who's behind it

Spis is small and independent. No listing fees, no sponsored pins, no ads dressed up as advice. We make the app we were missing and use it every day ourselves, and feedback from the people using it steers the roadmap more than anything else.

The name is Norwegian: spis simply means “eat”. That's the whole manifesto.

Cook it in. Eat out.
