Basara is a concept-driven sushi project that made its name with a well-reviewed rooftop pop-up at Illum in central Copenhagen, leaning into fusion touches and a signature lobster nigiri. When it's running, the draw is as much the elegant rooftop setting and inventive plates as the fish itself — though some experienced sushi eaters have found the raw quality merely okay for the price and the tempura a touch oily. Worth watching if you like ambitious, design-led sushi, but check first: as of 2026 the permanent location was in transition between venues.
