The Spis take

Café Englandshus is a proper old-school Amager dive bar on Englandsvej, the kind of brown værtshus where the beer is cheap, the welcome is warm and there are chessboards painted right onto some of the tables. Regulars come for dice games, a game of chess and a bottle at around 25 kr, and it keeps late hours most nights. It's not for coffee-culture tourists, but as an unpretentious, characterful neighbourhood haunt it delivers exactly what it promises.
