The grande dame of the Copenhagen cafe scene: a French-style bar and brasserie open since 1981 on the corner of Ny Østergade, all mirrors, marble and see-and-be-seen glamour in the shopping district. Come for the theatre and the classics — oysters, eggs royale, smoked salmon — knowing it trades partly on legacy; some find the interior dated and service uneven, and you're paying for the address. Still, for a slice of old-school Copenhagen brasserie ritual it remains a genuine landmark; book ahead.
