The Spis take

A genuine Christianshavn institution rather than a restaurant in the usual sense: a community house whose café is one of the city's coziest, cheapest living rooms, pouring free tea since 1975 and beer, wine and cake at prices that feel from another decade. The house chef cooks an organic, changing meat/fish/veg dinner a couple of nights a week, and there's a little stage for concerts and readings. Come for the un-touristy, lived-in atmosphere and the politics-and-pints crowd, not for polished food or fast service.
