Hallernes has been doing proper Danish smørrebrød since it opened in Torvehallerne in 2012, and the Magasin location is its flagship: a big room on the fifth floor with an open kitchen, a bar to sit at and a lovely view over Kongens Nytorv and the Royal Theatre. The open sandwiches are made largely from scratch with quality ingredients, and it's a reliable, unfussy spot for a classic smushi lunch in the city centre. It's a small chain rather than a hidden gem, and priced for tourists in a department store, but the food genuinely holds up.
