The Spis take

A serious cheesemonger and in-house bakery on lovely Værnedamsvej, the little Franco-Danish food street straddling Vesterbro and Frederiksberg. The counter overflows with carefully chosen cheeses from small European producers alongside charcuterie, olives and their own bread, and there's a light lunch of well-made sandwiches, tapas plates and cheese boards if you want to sit. It's a proper specialty shop, so expect specialty prices, but it's exactly the kind of place that makes the street worth the detour.
