A genuine Aarhus institution: over a century old, tucked by the old slaughterhouse at the end of Jægergårdsgade, serving proper old-school Danish fare in snug, unpretentious rooms. This is smørrebrød, stjerneskud, stegt flæsk and the celebrated bøfsandwich (crowned Denmark's best in 2019), done with real conviction. If you want to eat traditional Danish lunch the way locals actually do, this is one of the city's best-loved addresses.
