The Spis take

One of Christiania's oldest gathering places, running since 1975 and known locally as 'Månen' — an alcohol-free, collectively-run café of colourful art-filled rooms, homemade cakes, brunch and spicy vegetarian stew. By evening it becomes a little cultural hub for concerts, exhibitions and readings rooted in the freetown's underground. It's a genuine institution with a one-of-a-kind hippie-artistic soul; smoking (including cannabis) is allowed inside, which tells you everything about the vibe.
