The Spis take

Café Mellemfolk on Mejlgade is the volunteer-run, non-profit café of the human-rights organisation Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke, where all profit goes to causes the volunteers pick. The food and drink are organic and largely vegan/vegetarian, with fair-trade coffee, homemade bakes, and by evening cheap beer, concerts and political talks. Go for the values, community and atmosphere as much as the plate; it is a scene more than a polished eatery.
