Good fortraditional Norwegian dinner and lutefisk season

The Spis take

One of Oslo's oldest and most atmospheric restaurants, set in a 1641 building that has been serving guests since 1856 — the vaulted basement even preserves old prison cells, now a wine cellar and private dining room. The kitchen does traditional Norwegian cooking rooted in the seasons: coastal fish, game, and it's a well-known address for lutefisk and skrei in winter. It's special-occasion, slightly formal and not cheap, but if you want proper old-Oslo Norwegian tradition with real history in the room, this is the classic choice.
