The Spis take

A characterful bar-restaurant in the old bazaar halls at Youngstorget, going since 1997, built around Danish-style smørbrød, hearty burgers (elg, Lofot, skipper) and famously Norway's largest aquavit selection — 500-plus bottles. It's cozy and a bit old-school in the best way, equally good for a lunchtime open sandwich or a long evening working through the akevitt list. A solid, distinctive Oslo institution rather than a trendy newcomer.
