The Spis take

A tiny 19th-century wooden house perched on the Akerselva by the Labour Museum, now a heritage café run by the Anne på landet crew. It's a waffles-chicken-soup-and-cinnamon-buns kind of place, everything handmade with local ingredients, and the real draw is the setting: riverside, historic, unhurried. Go for coffee and cake on a walk along the river rather than a proper meal.
