The Spis take

A genuinely special spot: an old gunpowder factory by the Alna river, abandoned for two decades and reborn in 2021 as a café-bar with two saunas, run by the Kroloftet collective. By day it's a daytime oasis for fresh bakery and espresso; by night it turns into one of Oslo's coziest bars, with concerts, art and Sunday markets in the historic rooms. Come for the atmosphere and the riverside sauna-and-beer ritual more than fine dining, and note it's a bit of a trek out toward Kværnerbyen/Brynseng.
