A genuine hidden gem: a garden café tucked behind an 1855 house on a quiet Sagene side street, run out of the owners' own backyard with a koi pond and heaps of vintage charm. It opens on Sundays to serve homemade sveler (Norwegian griddle pancakes) hot off the pan, plus coffee, waffles and ice cream — a seasonal, small-scale ritual rather than a proper restaurant. If the weather's good and you catch the opening hours, it's one of Oslo's most quietly lovely afternoons.
