The Spis take
A creaking 1739 inn beside the Sverresborg folk museum, ladling out homemade meatballs, lingonberries and a rotating regional speciality in rooms that feel pleasantly frozen in time.
People say
Visitors are charmed by the historic 1739 timber inn at Sverresborg, with its warren of small rooms, fireplaces and candlelit, distinctly old-Norwegian atmosphere. The traditional Trøndelag cooking — meatballs with potatoes and lingonberries, salmon, and the Tuesday all-you-can-eat potato-dumpling (klubb) special — is generally well liked and seen as affordable, though a few recent visitors felt food quality has slipped. It sits a bit outside the centre, walkable if you don't mind the hills.
